Meiji Jingu’s Rakugan

Meiji Jingu's Rakugan

Rakugan is a small, solid, and sweet cake which is simply made of rice flour and sugar. The shape of this rakugan represents a flower of chrysanthemum.

This is a type of wagashi that is mainly served as an offering. I visited Meiji Jingu for a praying event the other day, and this was served after the event. It is believed to be auspicious to eat the offering which was handed down by the god.
